Council of Ephesus
Council of Ephesus, Cyril of Alexandria: Anathema VII
Selected letters, decrees and canons, including Cyril’s anathemas with reception notes; not the full proceedings
Cyril of Alexandria: Anathema VII
If anyone shall say that Jesus as man is only energized by the Word of God, and that the glory of the Only-begotten is attributed to him as something not properly his: let him be anathema.
Edition and transmission
Cyril of Alexandria authored this text. The source editor discusses uncertainty about its formal approval at Ephesus and its subsequent conciliar reception. It is preserved as received doctrinal material, not as an undisputed text newly authored by the council.
