¹ It is helpful to recall, when new dangers threaten Christians and the Church, the Spouse of the Divine Redeemer, that We - like Our Predecessors in bygone days - have turned in prayer to the Virgin Mary, our loving Mother, and have urged the whole flock entrusted to Our care to place itself confidently under her protection.
